Domestic & Exotic Imported Hardwoods

AMHS is proud to carry a substantial inventory of the various woods its customers request most often. These generally include: ash, walnut, domestic cherry, Brazilian cherry, red birch, oak, basswood, maple, poplar, South American yellow heart and purple heart and much more. AMHS also carries a selection of softwoods, which can include Spanish cedar, Douglas fir, and cypress.
Custom staining is always available for customers who opt to modify the natural color of their species of choice. AMHS strives to use the most environmentally–friendly products possible. Waterborne finishes are quickly becoming an attractive alternative to their more toxic counterparts.
The new Mohawk waterbourne system includes lacquer, dye stains, pigmented wiping stains, glazes, bases and colorants. This entire system is GREENGUARD Certified and suitable for LEED® credits.
Woodworkers can also find the highest quality Mohawk professional wood touch up, repair and finishing products. These include wood coatings and wood finishing products, furniture polishes and cleaners, and touch-up and repair. Many are environmentally friendly as well.
Additionally, AMHS uses only sheet stock with proven ”green” characteristics that contribute to LEED points. AMHS’s plywood and particle board are formaldehyde free and constructed with non-toxic, soy-based PureBond adhesive. AMHS’s fiberboard is also formaldehyde free, constructed with 100 percent post-industrial recycled wood fiber which meets or exceeds the most stringent global emission standards.
In addition to larger pieces of preferred species, AMHS offers a great variety of wood samples. As
a supplier of domestic and exotic hardwoods (for over 6 years) with contacts worldwide, AMHS can easily arrange special orders.
AMHS is proud to be a favorite stopover for the many hobbyists and wood turners in the area. Customers who rely on AMHS for their wood supply include bowl and lamp base turners, artists who carve pens, paperweights, and sculptures of all kinds, and people who design and build their own furniture, and more. AMHS regulars often bring their finished pieces in to show to Ken and his staff.
